BSC (PHYSIO), APAM
I am honoured to be the owner and practice principal of A Fine Balance Physiotherapy. Having opened from scratch ten years ago, it’s been an exciting journey and I am proud of what we have created with the team approach that we take to our patients’ care.
For over twelve years in New York City I was a Certified Strength and Conditioning Trainer, with experience in small fitness focused groups and in home on-on-one personal training. I also worked closely for over ten years with a Physical Therapist who specialised in outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation. We treated and designed rehabilitation programs for all age groups and returned patients to various sports. I returned to Perth with my family and completed my Physiotherapy Degree at Curtin University. I love my career. It lights me up in the mornings to know I can make a difference. My patients receive a very personalised treatment approach that focuses on them, their goals and we achieve them together.
Since my first taste of Physiotherapy doing work experience in year 10, physiotherapy has always seemed like the perfect fit. I loved the opportunity that physiotherapists interact with their patients and have such a positive impact. I decided then, during work experience, that I wanted to be a physio and I have never looked back. My love of sports and fitness is something that is easily integrated into physiotherapy and there are always new things to learn.
I grew up in the small coastal town of Pambula in southern New South Wales. Since I was young I have always played any sport I possibly could, and as a result I spent a fair amount of time at the physio. This gave me a great taste of the benefit that physiotherapists can provide to people in pain and led to me studying my Physiotherapy degree at Charles Sturt University which I completed with honours.
Having grown up in country Western Australia, I have always loved the outdoors. My love of travel saw me living in London for four years and then Sydney for five years.
During this time my passion for helping people led to a career in Personal Training. It became apparent that simply knowing how to help people “become fit” or “toned” wasn’t enough. So I began doing courses in exercise prescription and holistic training, looking at how all aspects of daily life affect a person, such as sleep, stress, exercise and diet.
I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil and came to Australia in 2011 just to fall in love with this beautiful country. It was while traveling around the world and working on cruise ships that I met Chris, who stole my heart and gave me a reason to leave Brazil and adopt Australia as my new home. We are now married and the parents of the beautiful and energetic 4-year-old, Sophia.
